Biography of Our President–Joanne Conflitti

Why does a successful lawyer decide to launch her own legal placement firm in her hometown of Toronto, Canada?
Joanne Conflitti knew that, in today’s new economy, there is a real and present need for a different approach to legal recruiting and that with her background, experience and expertise she could deliver this new approach.
A lawyer herself, she realized law partners, law firms, corporate legal departments and all legal professionals required an approach that delivered more professional and personalized service–one customized and specialized to meet all of their recruiting, employment and hiring needs. Simply put, this need was not being met by more general staffing firms unfamiliar with the specialized needs of the legal professional community.
The difference that makes a difference for you!
Joanne Conflitti knew her firm could be different–and would make a difference–for her professional clients and candidates.
She believed that, in this day and age, recruiting needed to be more personalized. That is, with the right research, time and counseling, she could help develop careers and grow organizations in an economy that would normally be resistant to expansion. She also realized that all of this could be accomplished while helping her clients keep their staffing costs down.
As a seasoned lawyer and former legal supervisor for one of the world’s most recent high-profile class action litigations, Joanne Conflitti understands firsthand what you are asking for and what it takes to fill each of your legal staffing needs quickly, efficiently and cost effectively.
Having worked in boutique, international and Wall Street firms, as well as an in-house legal department, Joanne is different from other recruiters.
Experience makes the difference.
After years of hands-on experience, Joanne can quickly identify what works best in every legal environment and how to extract the most important information from the onset to determine whether a particular candidate has what it takes to achieve success in a specific role. This special skill reduces turnover for both her clients and candidates and allows organizations to develop long-term relationships with their employees.
Equipped to listen and respond effectively to achieve the ‘end in mind’ results her clients and candidates desire, Joanne is perfectly suited to deliver this new approach to legal recruiting and placement.
Joanne began listening–and developing a passion for– the legal community at a very early age. Born in New York and, as true for many a next-generation professional, her parents did not have the opportunity to attend university and therefore could not pass technical knowledge of the law on to their daughter. But like many of their generation, her parents had another gift to give, that of instilling in their children the value of education and the importance of hard work.
The “keys” to success.
By the age of twelve, Joanne knew she wanted to become a lawyer–because of piano lessons! Well, actually the opportunity those lessons provided; destiny is interesting, indeed.
Her piano teacher’s husband was a respected New York lawyer with a full legal library in his home. Joanne spent many afternoons in her neighbor’s law library reading case law while waiting for her lessons to begin. Her reading struck a chord in her heart that resonates to this day with a love for the law and a finely-tuned ear to the pitch and quality of research.
Enrolling in university, she pursued a career in law. As a political science major, she became president of the Political Science Club and instituted the university’s first ever moot court and mock trial. Directly after university, she enrolled in law school in New York City where she was an editor and litigator for the Moot Court Board and Journal.
Following law school, she was recruited by one of New York’s notable Intellectual Property firms and pursued her legal career for the next thirteen years in the United States and Asia working for premier law firms and in-house legal departments.
For both work and personal reasons Joanne traveled the world, spending a lot of time in Asia, Europe and South America, as well as her home continent of North America. During her time working in Intellectual Property, Joanne had the pleasure of getting to know Toronto’s legal community through her international work.
From Inspiration to living the dream.
In 2007, Joanne moved to Toronto and has lived there happily since then.
Having enjoyed the high-paced lifestyle of her early days in New York, she found that the international and cosmopolitan environment of Toronto suited her perfectly. When not working, Joanne likes to travel, read and spend time with the important people in her life. And, when time permits, she still enjoys playing the piano.
Now, Joanne Conflitti is living her dream of helping people and organizations achieve personal and professional success.
Thanks to the values instilled by her parents combined with her legal training, discipline and devotion to doing what it takes to get the job done, Joanne Conflitti is revolutionizing legal recruiting in Canada and quickly becoming the industry’s expert for all Toronto legal jobs.
